Youth Basketball
GET IN THE GAME!
The YMCA Youth Basketball League is a recreational program for ages 4-17 that focuses on giving all youth an opportunity to play team sports. The Y is more about developing young athletes in being their very best rather than focusing on winning.
Program games are played from January through March.
The program is designed to develop fundamental basketball skills while learning, TEAMWORK, STRATEGY, and SPORTSMANSHIP.
Winter 2026 - Registration opens October 1st
For specific program information, click on the flyer. To register for the program, click the location name, or visit your local YMCA Branch location.
Equipment
Program participants should wear sneakers for practice and gameplay. Each player will receive a jersey top uniform. Program participants are not required to have a basketball. Basketballs for practice and games will be supplied by the YMCA.
Game Rules
For youth ages 8 and up, Georgia High School Basketball rules are used by league officials.
Program Coaches
Youth basketball coaches are volunteers of the Y. Volunteer coaches undergo a background check and training to ensure they are fully knowledgeable of the YMCA's coaching expectations.
Opportunities to coach are available at all locations, and will be given a $25 credit for a future program. Interested individuals are encouraged to inquire about coaching before the end of the registration period. For more information, contact Edmund Peabody, Roschelle Hollis, or Antonio Mathis for details.
