SWIM LESSON POLICIES & PROCEDURES
REGISTRATION & PARTICIPANTS
When a class has fewer than three registered participants, the class will be consolidated. Lessons will take place during the first half of the original schedule.
To allow for instructor rescheduling, registration for a class ends two days before class begins. Approval from the program coordinator is required for late registration.
MAKEUP LESSONS
Lessons will try to be rescheduled if a lesson is canceled due to inclement weather, pool closing, or other unforeseen circumstances. The YMCA will make every effort to contact you as soon as possible if a lesson is cancelled. Your swim instructor will give you the exact date and time of the makeup lesson if we are able to reschedule. We are not able to offer makeup lessons for individual absences.
Please verify your contact information is up-to-date at the Front Desk.
TRANSFERS & CANCELLATIONS
Transfers: Requests must be made no later than 24 hours of the start of the session via email.
Participants may be moved to a different level based upon their swimming performance before the conclusion of a class session.
Cancellations: If a class is cancelled by the YMCA, you will receive a credit on your account for the amount of the lesson(s) missed. Lessons missed by students for reasons not related to cancellation by the YMCA will not be credited.
Scheduling and class questions or concerns should be directed to the Aquatics Director.
ACCOMPANYING YOUR CHILD
Participants under age 12 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and must provide a current membership card or valid photo ID on each visit.
SWIM INSTRUCTION POLICY
All swim lessons conducted within our facilities must be taught by certified YMCA swim instructors. Outside providers are not permitted to offer swim instruction—formally or informally—within our facilities. This includes private lessons, coaching, or training sessions conducted by non-YMCA staff, regardless of their certifications or qualifications. Engaging in or facilitating unauthorized swim instruction may result in the immediate suspension and/or termination of membership and loss of facility access.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND MEDIA
The YMCA may photograph both you and your child, and the YMCA may use those photographs for its marketing purposes. If you would prefer to not be included, please inform the program coordinator. Please make every effort to exclude other members and guests when taking personal photographs or videos.
